Ferris opened a 14-0 lead before the Bullpups (5-4) pulled within 14-7 before halftime.

The Saxons led 21-7 after three quarters, but G-Prep pulled within the final margin when receiver Ryan Gregory pulled in a 72-yard TD pass from Zach Bonneau with 1:25 remaining. The Bullpups attempted an onside kick, but the Saxons recovered to seal the win.

The Bullpups (5-2) defense struggled to stop the NC Indians early in the first half but after regrouping at half time the Pups went on to shutout the Indians in the second half. Currently the Pups are still in the hunt for a playoff berth.

The Bullpups used quarterback Zach Bonneau to lead the offensive attack with two rushing touchdowns and one 34 yard passing TD. Bonneau finished with a team-high 188 yards on 16 carries. He completed 3 of 4 passes for 65.

The Bullpups’ option controlled the ground game and the tempo in the second half. G-Prep rushed 51 times for 373 yards. Junior running back Griffin Hare had 124 on 16 attempts and TD runs of 1 and 62 yards.

Pups Celebrate On Prep Pride Day

On Friday night Gonzaga celebrated 125 years of Jesuit education on Prep Pride Day by introducing this year's Hall of Fame members. G-Prep also enjoyed Homecoming by defeating Central Valley 41-24. After suffering many injuries this season the Bullpups are finally getting healthy again and that’s great news for Pup fans.

 

Prep's rushed for 374 total yards and was led by junior running back Griffin Hare with 162 yards. Hare returned from a hand injury and scored three TDs to lead the Bullpups in the home victory.

 

Gonzaga's defense shut down the CV Bears and defensive back Joe Lenoue led G-Prep (4-2) by picking off two passes and recovering a fumble. The Bullpups forced three interceptions and two fumbles. It was a big win for G-Prep, which moved them up in the league standings and giving them an opportunity for a playoff berth.

The Bullpups (3-2) rushed their way to victory. The Pups rolled for 235 yards, and coasted for the win over the Pirates (0-5). Leading the rushing attack was quarterback Zach Bonneau, he scored on a 54-yard run, and finished with a team-high 93 yards on eight carries.

Reserve QB Zach Grenz threw two TD passes, both to Ryan Gregory. Chris Szamblem returned an interception 32 yards for another TD.

 

Pups Suffer First Loss

 

Gonzaga Prep Bullpups suffered their first loss as the Titans earned their first victory. The Bullpups scored late in the second quarter to take a 14-13 lead into halftime, University scored three second-half touchdowns for a 35-14 win in Greater Spokane League action Friday.

 

The Titans’ defense forced two G-Prep fumbles and then shut out the Pups in the second half. Griffin Hare led the Bullpups (2-1) with 75 yards on 18 carries.

Gonzaga put together another solid running game in week two. Leading the running attack for the Pups were Griffin Hare with four touchdowns and QB Zack Bonneau. Both runners combined for a total 290 yards rushing. The Murphy brothers contributed 71 yards.

Strong 2nd Half Lift Pups

Gonzaga fell behind 12-7 at halftime, but the Bullpups dominated in the second half at Albi in the 2011 football opener.

In the second half, though, G-Prep’s running game, behind quarterback Zach Bonneau and running back Griffin Hare, chewed up the Highlanders.

Hare rushed for 167 yards on 30 carries and four TDs and Bonneau finished with 167 on 31 attempts and a touchdown.
