After trailing by four runs in the first inning the Pups bounced back by scoring five runs and then held on to defeat the visiting Shadle Park Highlanders. Good pitching and solid defense sealed the victory for Gonzaga. Slater, playing center field for Prep made two outstanding catches.

Shadle had the tying run on third with one out in the top of the 7th inning when the next batter hit a fly ball to right field. Trujilo caught the fly ball and then threw a strike to the Prep catcher, Ulrich. Ulrich made the tag on the racing runner at the plate for the final out. Bonneau pitched six scoreless innings after giving up four runs in the first inning.
