Prep Boys Bring Home 4th Place March 7, 2009

David Stockton had his best game of the four days, hitting four 3-pointers – three in the first half – and finishing with 22 points. Sean Fischer went scoreless in the first half, but in the second he poured in 21 points, including five 3-pointers. G-Prep had three players in double figures, and Ryan Nicholas finished with 16 and 11 rebounds. David Stockton had 22 points, seven coming into overtime, as Gonzaga Prep defeated Inglemoor, 72-64, to take fourth place in the Class 4A boys tournament on Saturday. A 3-pointer from Adam McElwee with a minute left in the extra session brought Inglemoor back within two. A free throw from Travis Long gave GP a three-point lead. McElwee would miss a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession, forcing Inglemoor to foul. Stockton would hit a pair of free throws with 29 seconds to play to stretch the lead five points. An intentional foul led to another free throw and a layup by Stockton to close out the game. Inglemoor forced overtime on Todd Campbell’s tip-in with 5 seconds left in regulation tying the game at 57. Sean Fischer scored 21 points and Ryan Nicholas added 16 points and 11 rebounds for Gonzaga Prep. Gonzaga Prep (26-4)
