Prep saved the best for last on senior night. Gonzaga (6-3 overall, 5-3 GSL) played their best game of the year on their last regular season game against arch rival Lewis & Clark (6-2, 6-2). Before the game the famous Rudy from Norte Dame went into the locker room and gave an old fashion ND Pep speech to the football team.

G-Prep scored early and then hung on to defeat the Tigers 14-12. Prep came out on their second possession with a 90 yards marching drive that ended with Bryan Karwacki scoring from 16 yards. Karwacki finished the game with 21 carries for 104 yards. The bulk of the drive was a combination of Karwacki keeping the ball or pitching it out to his tailbacks Brain Lee & Travis Long for big gains. The outside rushes by Prep forced LC to spread their defense which opened up the middle for big yardage by Jeremy Condon. Condon carried the pigskin for 80 yards on 15 attempts.

The WA State 6th ranked Tigers had no answers in stopping Prep’s powerful offensive line in the first half. “We came out fired up and our offensive line did a good job up front to give our running backs opportunities to make things happen” said Karwacki. The “O-Line” always starts with the offensive center and Anthony Luna led the surge for the Pups.

Late in the second quarter Karwacki connected with Kelly Henthorn who was wide open in the back of the endzone for a touchdown reception. Karwacki completed 4 of 9 passes for 43 yards. The kicked extra point by Matt Barker advanced the lead to 14-0.

LC got on the scoreboard on an 80-yard, five-play scoring drive early in the fourth quarter, but the extra point was blocked. The Tigers moved down to the Prep’s 6-yard line on their next possession but came up empty when the snap was mishandled on a 22-yard field-goal try with just 4 minutes left in the game.

With 25 seconds left in the fourth quarter the Tigers still had a chance to tie up the game. LC got the ball back around mid-field and were able to score their second touchdown on two plays with less than 2 seconds on the game clock. The Tigers tried the two-point conversion but the pass thrown by the Tigers fell short of the receiver.
