Bullpups Out Run The Pirates

Rogers’ Pirates football coaches tried to fire up their football team before the game by having their team walk from Rogers H. S. to the host Gonzaga Prep field (5-3, 4-3). For almost two quarters of play it appeared to work. The Bullpups trailed the winless Pirates (0-7, 0-7) 12-6 in the second quarter on a 42-yard pass by Andrew Durant to Cody Peterson. It was Peterson's second TD.

Matt Barker kicked a 37 yard field goal and another field goal from 50 yards to tie up the game in the second quarter. Later in the second quarter Travis Long found a hole on the left side of the line and sprinted for a 47-yard scoring run to give the Bullpups a 13-6 lead. Prep broke the game open later in the quarter with some strong running by Jeremy Condon. The Bullpups rushed for 348 yards, Condon finished with 18 carries for 162 yards.

Taylor Fleming slipped a couple tacklers and went off right tackle for a TD to extend the Bullpups lead to 20-6 at the intermission mark.

Travis Long had two touchdowns on four runs for a total 92 yards and in the third Quarter Connor Payton caught a 30 yard touchdown pass from Bryan Karwacki.
