The G-Prep Bullpups came out wearing their visiting white uniforms, but played like they were the home team favorite. Coming into the game the Saxons were ranked 3rd in the state while the Pups were respectably ranked 5th. Just after two weeks into the season, the 6,000  plus fans witnessed one of the most entertaining high school football games in recent years. Both teams showcased their offensive power. G-Prep came out running and scored early and Ferris responded right back. After the end of the first half both teams exchanged scores, but it was the Bullpups on top with a 21-14 lead. In the second half the Saxons were led by WSU bound Halliday with his strong arm. Halliday passed for over 400 yards which kept the Saxons close. In the end it was Shane Schmidlkofer and Bishop Sankey that stole the show with their power and speed.

Prep's offensive front five – Brian Schneider, David Nelson, James Heusner, Conor Gabbert and Matt Coles – took it to a veteran Ferris line, empowered the Bullpups to pile up nearly 400 rushing yards against the 3rd ranked Ferris. “You’ve got to give credit to those guys up front,” said head coach McKenna. “And mention Tyler Heaton and Jordan Hamby.

The Bullpups were guided by junior quarterback Schmidlkofer. Ferris had the highly college recruited Sankey to contend with while Schmidlkofer’s option reads led to his big first half. While Sankey powered away with 21 carries and 83 yards, Schmidlkofer sliced and sprinted for 123 yards on five carries. After two weeks of play Sankey, with 222 yards, rushed for his second consecutive 200 yards game.

In the end it was the Prep's defense that stopped the Saxons from winning this entertaining contest. The Bullpups forced the Saxons to turnover the ball too many times. Ferris played catch up but couldn't overcome Prep’s lead in the second half.
